On June 4th and 5th, I travelled around the western end of the lake, and set up my equipment on the south shore. This location is particularly good, as it affords one a 180 degree view of the lake. Also, it is a beautiful place to sit and enjoy nature, as it is a conservation area, and has a marina adjacent to the spot where I sit. At about 1.30 p.m. I noticed a bright light source just east of my location, and slightly "inshore." I turned the camera in that direction, and focused on this light. I let the camera roll for nearly an hour, and the "light" evolved from a single point, split into different "levels" and finally became a complete pillar of light. This phenomenon eventually became called our "PILLAR OF FIRE." The full VHS video shows an extraordinary metamorphosis! After it had become the PILLAR OF FIRE, it gradually decreased in brightness and size, returned to a single point of light, and completely disappeared from view. Five frames from this video can be seen on the IMAGES page of "ORBWATCH." The final frame shows the boat that apparently stopped right in front of the PILLAR OF FIRE! I have taped this phenomenon on numerous occasions, but the event of June 5th was the most memorable. |
