MEMBERS PRESENT:
ORBWATCH DIRECTOR JJ.
SET UP: 19.15 hrs. E.S.T.
WEATHER CONDITIONS: Very calm water. Small ripples. TEMPERATURE: Cool at - 6 degrees C. VISIBILITY: Very good along shoreline, and across water to Niagara and St. Catharine's. The LIGHT PILLAR is here tonight. (Please see previous reports from March to May 1997) I have decided to just watch any activity this evening, and not use the video camera. 19.15 h. Bright golden object/light source appeared at approximately 5 degrees elevation, remained stationary, and winked out. 19.25 h. Bright golden object/light source appeared at approximately 5 degrees elevation, in same location as previous sighting. This object came down close to water's surface, and a beam appeared on the water below the light source. The object/light source then submerged into the water. 19.35 h. Same as previous sighting. Much brighter as the object/light source submerged. 19.41 h. Same again. This one was not so bright, and needed to be viewed through binoculars to make it clearer. The beam was still very clear as it descended into the water. 19.54
h. Bright golden object/light source appeared at same elevation. Remained
stationary and winked out.
19.56
h. Less bright golden object appeared at approximately same elevation.
It moved around for about one minute, before the beam came down to the
water, and the object/light source submerged.
20.02
h. Another bright golden object/light source appeared at same location
and elevation. This came straight down to the water's surface, the beam
appeared, and then the object/light source submerged.
20.05
h. Golden object/light source appeared for VERY short while, at same
elevation, and winked out.
20.07
h. Bright golden object/light source appeared at a slightly higher
elevation, moved slowly for about half a minute, and then put its beam
down onto the water's surface. Submersion. 20.11 h. Bright golden
object/light source appeared momentarily, and winked out.
20.12
h. Bright golden object/light source appeared, seemingly hovered. Then
the beam came down and the object seemed to be spinning. Several of the
previous ones gave the same impression. Object/light source then submerged.
20.15
h. Packed up for the night. In most of the above sightings, the object/light
source appeared to be spinning in a clockwise direction as it descended
to the water's surface, and finally submerged. It was good to see the activity
pick up this evening. We have had a very long, quiet period.
