Ginger was our first Golden. We couldn't ask for a better introduction to the breed. She was incredibly intelligent and eager to please and learned anything we wanted to teach her in 5 minutes or less.
She learned many tricks, common and some uncommon. We taught her to climb ladders... Big mistake! She once joined us on the roof of the house. She learned to catch and hold hens that had escaped from their pen until we could put them back. Ginger also did pretty well at herding Holstein cattle, which is no mean feat. She also did quite well in traditional retriever activities. It is entirely our fault that she had no titles.
Gin was the reigning matriarch here until her death at 14 1/2 years of age. She blessed us with her own pups and then helped raise several generations more.
