PROJECT MANAGER

Status: Regular Full Time
Location: Etobicoke, ON
Hours: 37.5 hours/week

The Project Manager is required to prepare project schedules and other required documentation, anticipate and seek to overcome implementation obstacles to maintain project schedules, interface and co-ordinate with departments within the company and third parties to achieve the defined project deliverables.


Responsibilities:
Project plan development including:
Work with Functional Managers and Project Team Members on preparation of project plans
Developing work plans, managing deadlines and coordination of project team activities in line with project objectives, budget, and schedule
Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
Project plan management including:
Lead and facilitate structured and regular meetings as necessary for successful communications between all team members including kick-off meetings and regular status meetings
Ensure all project deliverables are successfully met and completed on time.
Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
Releasing minutes for all project meetings
Following through all deliverables and action items committed to by project participants
Follow-up and/or escalate on missed deadlines and sign-off.
Collect project schedule inputs and update the schedules accordingly
Issues management including:
Identify and resolve issues and obstacles that affect the project timeline
Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path
Status reporting:
Provide ongoing status reporting and communication of project activities and results to project stakeholders and to management
Track project milestones and deliverables
Develop and deliver progress reports
Communicate status of projects to all team members and highlight issues, which may impact project objectives
Ensuring adequate communication is maintained regarding project status and priorities

Qualifications:
5+ years of Project Management or Coordination in Telecommunications industry.
Demonstrated experience in managing and coordinating complex network projects in a company with a regional or national delivery network.
This position requires familiarity with network engineering, planning and operations.
Previous experience managing teams in matrix based organization required
Previous experience and ability to provide solutions while managing tight deadlines and motivating others required
PC Skills – Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, Outlook
Knowledge of telecom voice and data products and services
Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with senior management, employees and third parties.
Ability to participate in meetings, conduct and lead discussions.

DATA CENTRE TECHNICIAN

Status: Regular Full Time
Location: Vancouver, BC
Hours: 37.5 hours/week

Primus Canada is currently recruiting for a Data Centre Technician for our Vancouver Data Centre. Reporting directly to the Manager, Data Centre, this role is responsible for escorting collocation clients visiting the data centre to work on their equipment and regular walk-around of the facility to ensure that everything is functioning properly as well. In this role, some field work maybe required including installation and service of our VoIP products and in building wiring.

In addition, this role works with our Managed Services team. The role is responsible for watching the monitors of Managed server and network devices and responding to alerts. It also includes patching servers and upgrading network device operating systems, monitoring event logs, checking backup reports for servers and network devices as well as making firewall changes. This role includes first level Managed Services response and troubleshooting for customer requests and issues as reported through tickets and a phone queue.


Responsibilities:
Install, configure and maintain Cisco catalyst 3500 switches.
Liaise with Corporate technical support team for server collocation setups.
Liaise with Network Administrators and Managed system administration for all required internal Primus installs and on-going support.
Perform weekly generator testing.
Coordinate all new device installations in server room.
Maintain adequate supply levels for Ethernet patch cables, power cables, KVM gear, etc.
Keep network diagrams for collocation and server room up to date.
Keep network diagrams for collocation and server room up to date.
Perform weekly power system audits.
Maintain server room infrastructure (cabinets, shelving, etc).
Perform emergency cabling and patch cables.
Assigning IP space and DNS setup for collocation clients.
Emergency on-call and shift work including midnights, weekends and on-call.
Perform emergency reboots on client collocation systems.
Maintain data center security.
Create and update data centre procedures.
Use IP Monitor software to maintain Primus and collocation client systems.
Maintaining Primus Canada’s Disaster recovery manual.
Performing Primus Canada and collocation clients’ system backups.
Maintain security integrity at Primus based on security policies.
Ensure all health and safety guidelines are enforced by both internal and external visitors to the Data Centre
Document/update policy and procedures
Disaster Recovery Manual updates
Perform Weekly and/or Monthly Generator testing
Client space and electrical audit

Qualifications:
1-3 years of telecom experience, including tone tracing, cross connecting and installing PBX phone systems
Knowledge of Internet networking and associated hardware.
Customer care experience, an asset.
Post Secondary College education (Certificate/Diploma) in Networking and/or equivalent.
MCP or CCNA certification is an asset
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook
Basic understanding of IP networking
Good client and interpersonal skills
Basic to intermediate knowledge of HTML, HTTP, SMTP, FTP, SSH and SSL protocols
Basic to Intermediate knowledge of MS Windows installation, setup/configuration and administration (2008, 2003, 2000, NT)
Basic knowledge of network wiring
Basic knowledge of KVM systems
Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients and third parties.
Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to respond to customer inquiries via telephone as well as email in a professional and efficient manner.
Ability to create and interpret technical documents and reports
Good problem solving and decision making skills.
Ability to work under minimal supervision.
On occasion, data centre technician may be required to lift up to 50 pounds
