Data Centre Technician The Data Centre Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of Cisco catalyst 3500 switches. In additional, the technician is responsible for escorting collocation clients visiting the data centre to work on their equipment and regular walk-arounds of the facility to ensure that everything is functioning properly. |

Responsibilities: |
|
| Install, configure and maintain Cisco catalyst 3500 switches. | |
| Liaise with Corporate technical support team for server collocation setups. | |
| Liaise with Network Administrators and Managed system administration for all required internal Primus installs and on-going support. | |
| Perform weekly generator testing. | |
| Coordinate all new device installations in server room. | |
| Maintain adequate supply levels for Ethernet patch cables, power cables, KVM gear, etc. | |
| Perform daily and weekly server room clean up. | |
| Keep network diagrams for collocation and server room up to date. | |
| Perform weekly power system audits. | |
| Maintain adequate supply levels for Ethernet patch cables, power cables, KVM gear, etc. | |
| Perform emergency cabling and patch cables. | |
| Assigning IP space and DNS setup for collocation clients. | |
| Emergency on-call and shift work including midnights, weekends and on-call. | |
| Perform emergency reboots on client collocation systems. | |
| Maintain data center security. | |
| Create and update data centre procedures. | |
| Use IP Monitor software to maintain Primus and collocation client systems. | |
| Maintaining Primus Canada’s Disaster recovery manual. | |
| Performing Primus Canada and collocation clients’ system backups. | |
| Maintain security integrity at Primus based on security policies. | |
| Ensure all health and safety guidelines are enforced by both internal and external visitors to the Data Centre | |
| Document/update policy and procedures. | |
| Disaster Recovery Manual updates. | |
| Perform Generator testing. | |
| Client space and electrical audit. | |
| Some field work maybe required including installation and service of our VoIP products and in building wiring. | |
Qualifications: |
|
| 1-3 years of telecom experience, including tone tracing, cross connecting and installing PBX phone systems | |
| Knowledge of Internet networking and associated hardware. | |
| Customer care experience, an asset. | |
| Post Secondary College education (Certificate/Diploma) in Networking, Electrical/Mechanical and/or equivalent. | |
| Basic understanding of IP networking | |
| Good client and interpersonal skills | |
| Basic knowledge of Windows operating environment | |
| Basic knowledge of network wiring | |
| Basic knowledge of KVM systems | |
| Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients and third parties. | |
| Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to respond to customer inquiries via telephone as well as email in a professional and efficient manner. | |
| Ability to create and interpret technical documents and reports | |
| Good problem solving and decision making skills. | |
| Ability to work under minimal supervision. | |
| On occasion, data centre technician may be required to lift up to 50 pounds | |

Network Planner The Network Planner is primarily responsible for overall capacity monitoring and growth planning on the network. This position is involved in growth planning of Primus Canada’s long distance, local and data services network. This position is also responsible for the identification, collection, verification and review of all source data related to monitoring and planning activities. |

Responsibilities: |

| Identify, collect, and verify source data related to Network infrastructure, services, and Growth forecasts. | |
| Review, summarize and report on source data on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis. | |
| Identify and estimate future capacity requirements, for network infrastructure items including SONET, TDAX, C3 Ports, MALC (links and cards), site power etc. | |
| Track and detect capacity augments to network equipment and facilities as required. | |
| Track and trend utilization of all network facilities and equipment, including C3 IP links, C3 trunks, IP Transit, internet PRI’s, Ethernet links (NNI, AGAS) etc. | |
| Other duties and projects, as assigned | |
Qualifications: |
|
| 2-5 years of experience in Telecom Network Planning. | |
| Technical knowledge of SONET, ATM, IP, PL, FR, TDM and voice switching. | |
| Post secondary education in electrical engineering or telecommunications or related field | |
| PC Skills – Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Visio, Project, Access, and Outlook. | |
| Working knowledge of Windows OS such as XP | |
| Strong interpersonal skills for effective inter-departmental interaction. | |
| Capability to propose solutions to peers and senior management. | |
| Excellent written communication including the ability to write and present clear and professional reports and specification documents. | |

FIELD SERVICES TECHNICIAN The Field Service Technician provides services for installation, operation, and maintenance of internet, data, RF Radio, and voice networks and services at all telecom sites supporting Primus Canada and its affiliates and for installation and repair of network elements and services for commercial and residential customers. The full scope of field services includes the installation and maintenance of network and facility infrastructure for:

| Installation and Maintenance: | |
| Add, move, repair and change network circuits, internet facilities, and data facilities | |
| Report and document all network troubles and maintanances via NOCC ticketing system | |
| Cabling and installation of equipment in Primus Canada, affiliate and customer sites | |
| Maintain storage facilities, inventory, and inventory records | |
| Assist troubleshooting escalated service related issues | |
| Maintain up to date layouts of site and network configurations | |
| Troubleshoot gateway problems via and co-ordinate repairs with site contacts and Telco reps | Perform gateway site re-locations and upgrades |
| Provide customer service support including site visits when required | Conduct service and network maintenance in maintenance windows agreed with the NOCC and or Customer, often at hours with minimal potential service impact. |
| Frequent travel among telecom sites and customer locations within a given region with occasional overnight travel to other regions where that region does not yet have or justify its own dedicated Field Service personnel. | |
| NOTE: Participate in a 24x7 coverage process requiring shifts “On-Call” and occasional “Call-Out” for emergency service restoration. | |
Additional Duties: |

| Maintain Primus vehicles (scheduled maintenance, appearance, vehicle logs, etc) | |
| Secure and maintain tool inventory | |
| Maintain emergency spares inventory | |
| Perform scheduled daily, weekly monthly and yearly site routines (UPS testing, generator testing, HVAC testing, voice and data equipment) | |
| Load and off-load equipment and materials (shipping and receiving) | |
| Maintain site appearance (daily clean-up duties) | |
| Perform additional duties as requested by Manager | |
Qualifications: |
|
| Post secondary education (Electronic Technician / Technologist). Cisco certification an asset | |
| Available for overnight travel required, on short notice | |
| Valid Ontario drivers license mandatory | |
| Previous telecommunications experience required - Central Office, Centrex, ISDN, and T1 / T3 Facilities. | |
| Commercial customer experience preferred - Installation experience with commercial customers for PBX, key systems, telecom, and or network services. | |
| Previous working experience with computer software and hardware, routers, switches, NAS, and servers, CSU/DSUs. RF radio experience would be an asset. | |
| Good analytical ability and problem solving ability | |
| LAN/WAN, UNIX, NT, or Windows experience would be an asset | |
| Experience supporting IP services (DNS, SMTP, POP, IMAP, FTP, HTTP) an asset | |
| Available to work shifts 7 days a week if required | |
| Available to participate in the “on-call schedule” for the Site Operations organization, where on-site trouble shooting and/or installation support may require remote and/or on-site support for any of Primus’ sites across Canada to restore or improve services or where scheduled maintenance is being conducted. | |
